Singer of "Best Band in Jacksonville 2021"

JAMAR a trained vocalist with training styles of classical and contemporary is based out of Jacksonville, FL, but originally from Fairbanks, AK. He is self-taught in playing guitar and drums. He has been singing since he was six years old. He taught himself how to play the drums in 2006 along with the guitar in 2010. Jamar started competing in a local singing competition in 2014 where he went all the way to the finale and completed in fourth place among over 250 singers. Since 2016, he has been performing and now with his current band Last2Leave all over Jacksonville and Florida at weddings, festivals, private parties, and events. Their band plays covers ranging from a mix of pop, disco, hip-hop, R&B, and classic rock. In March 2021, Last2Leave played at a TPC after party at Ponte Vedra’s Island girl cigar bar aiding in the bar’s largest night they have ever recorded. Shortly after that in May, they headed Jacksonville’s Taco and Tequila Festival playing for over 10,000 people. According to www.thebash.com Last2Leave has over 100 verified bookings with all 5-star ratings and has won the award 2 years running as the best wedding, event band in Florida.

Although the passion for music started at the age of six when joining his church choir in, Fairbanks, Alaska, it wasn’t until while attending college for his associates degree in Vocal Performance, where he was classically trained, he taught himself how to play guitar and started writing faith-based songs that he began to perform in church while also starting the church’s youth worship band when he realized that he wanted to make music a career. Shortly after college, he took lessons being trained in the popular, contemporary vocal style. In 2016, the Town band was the first to have Jamar as their lead, male singer and they played for at least two years together playing all over Jacksonville including the Jacksonville Landing several times. Jamar, after being introduced to one of the largest bands in northeast Florida, Last2Leave, became their lead male singer in 2019 and have played shows all over Jacksonville and Florida.

At the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, shows for Last2Leave did decrease, but the opportunity came for Jamar and the lead female singer to do gigs by themselves by bringing the full band sound while singing along to instrumental tracks and naming the duo Angel & Jamar. As the band was able to start playing together again, the Angel & Jamar shows continued. The Angel and Jamar shows have not only continued but has allowed Jamar to create his own solo show. The band is currently also working on creating original music to incorporate into their shows. Jamar can be seen singing with Last2Leave, Angel & Jamar, or JAMAR at his solo shows.

As of October 2021, Last2Leave was awarded “Best Band in Jacksonville”.
